Experiencing Yeast Infection Problems?

Sunday, June 8, 2008

Discover how to identify yeast infections but more importantly, how to avoid them in the future.

Yeast is a very common fungus that is found inside all of us and because of that many of us can and do, succumb to a yeast infection. The favorite hideouts of the yeast fungus are the hottest and also dampest parts of our bodies. It is because of this that women unfortunately are more prone to having a yeast infection at some point in their life particularly around the crotch area.

Following on from the above, other common locations to find a yeast infection include in the armpits, all areas of the groin and in general all parts of your body that have skin folds that can potentially trap in heat or moisture. Most people agree however, that one of the worst places to get a yeast infection is in your mouth, on the tongue or the cheeks.

The root cause of yeast infections is a sudden increase in the amount of yeast fungi present in the body. Increases can be caused by a variety or factors such as a low immune system, poor hygiene and even a by product of taking anti-biotics.

Finding Out Where Yeast Infections Typically Arise

Hard exercise gives rise to a lot of sweating and if you do not wash yourself thoroughly afterwards and change into dry clothes then this can eventually lead to a yeast infection problem.

Women who wear tight fitting pants need to be careful too that they do not leave themselves open to infection. General advice has always been to wear cotton next to the skin, this allows it to breathe properly.

A yeast infection in this area is usually first recognized by feeling an itchy, burning sensation. In addition, a whitish, sometimes watery, discharge is produced that is usually very unpleasant.

Another part of the population that is prone to yeast infection is children who wear diapers or nappies. In their particular case the cause of the yeast infection is the restriction of air flow caused by a diaper that is ill fitting or too tight.

Regular change of diapers of course is desirable but sometimes, if left too long it can lead to the baby suffering itching and painful burning sensations. This will of course cause it great distress.

Lastly, yeast infections can also be found on the feet or hands usually on the webbing between the fingers and toes. It is usual for a yeast infection of this type to be caused by excess sweat and restriction of air circulation.
