Even stay at home moms need time away from everyday chores and tasks. Here are five ways to get away.

You are at home with the kids all the time, every day. Between the naps and snack times you can barely stretch your legs before you´ll be running around with the toddler or changing the diapers. You finally need a break. But how can you get away from it? You feel locked in and surrounded. Here are some ideas to help you get away.

Get a Sitter

Use a neighbor, friend, Aunt, Grandma or someone else you trust. Your spouse can help too. Ask if they mind taking over for an hour. Even a half hour can be invigorating. Take a bath or read a book. Do something you like to do. You don´t want to worry on your time off so find someone reliable to watch the kids while you begin your time away from it all.

Find a local stay at home mom group. They usually organize events such as play dates and get togethers. But they may also be able provide sitter services when you really need it. Talk to others who are in the same situation. One day you can reciprocate and help another stay at home mom out in the same situation.

Get a Lock

Make sure little ones are secure with a baby sitter or your spouse. Go to the bedroom or another room that you can stay in for a little bit. Make sure no one´s in there with you. Lock the door, sit down and relax. It´s going to be okay. Buy a padlock for when you really don´t want to be interrupted. Make sure you and only you have the key. Install a deadbolt on the door. It may seem drastic to others. But to you, it may be worth it.

Get a Journal

A journal helps many stay at home moms get away. Give yourself time to journal. Even fifteen minutes spent writing in a journal can help you collect your thoughts and make the day´s tensions melt away. Write down your worries and any stress you might have. The journal is a place for you to vent. It doesn´t talk back and it doesn´t necessarily remind you of the worries every time you look at it.

Find a journal that you like to write in. Search for a journal that shows your spirit. You can make your own journal if you´d like. Use a binder and some filler notebook paper. You can even use a plain notebook if you want. A journal doesn´t have to be special to anyone but you. Buy a good journaling pen too preferably a pen that writes fast and that fits your hand well.

Get a Garden

Gardening gives you time away from all the worries of the day. Go to the garden to read or tend to the garden chores such as weeding, planting or watering. Use this time to reflect on the day. Some people need to relax when they are stressed. Others need to find hard work to relieve stress. If you´re the type that needs to find hard work to relieve stress, then a garden might be the perfect get away for you.
