Horrific Shopping and Other Two-Year-Old Battles
Are you sometimes ready to scream when dealing with your two-year-old?This article discusses some types of behavior that you may experience with your rapidly changing two-year-old.
The first discussion focuses on shopping, a favorite activity among many mothers with small children. Long gone are the days when your infant would sleep quietly for a couple hours in the stroller while you shopped to your heart’s content. Now are the days when your on-the-go, running and jumping toddler doesn’t want to ride in the stroller except for short bursts like having a drink or a snack on the go. She might give in for as long as it takes to eat her snack. Once the food is gone, she is demanding to get out of the stroller. As soon as you put her down, she takes off running again. Although it is great that your child is running and exploring his surroundings, it is scary at the mall because there are lots of people. It is easy to lose a child.
Here are some other things to expect from your child in the mall. First, if you are walking along in the middle of the mall, your toddler may dart into the doorways of various stores. He may be headed towards a display or laughing hysterically when you finally catch him. It might be about the chase or about the things catching his attention. When you are shopping in the aisles of a department store, he might try to take off, darting between the racks of clothes. Because he is still short, you can’t easily find him. It is momentarily sickening to call your child’s name and dart everywhere trying to locate him. In other situations, your child will just try to outrun you. It is common to have to leave your stroller and chase your daughter before she gets lost in the crowd.
