Starting Medifast
I recently started the Medifast diet plan. For months I have been trying or thinking about trying various diets. I got to the point where I was fed up with it all, and I even made an appointment with a local hospital to enter a weight loss program there. There was almost a month long wait for an appointment and I just couldn’t wait that long. I decided to order Medifast.
I have been a Medifast customer in the past, but I just wasn’t committed at the time. Commitment is not an issue for me anymore. I chose after all, to give up holiday treats for weight loss. My initial Medifast order arrived mid-day on a Monday. I immediately started the program.
After one week on Medifast I “officially” weighed myself. My initial weight was 390 pounds. I am 6 feet three inches tall. At my 1 week weigh-in I weighed 373 pounds!! I lost 17 pounds the first week and 4.4% of my body weight! Some of that initial loss is water loss, but 17 pounds in a week is more than I could have hoped for! That initial weight loss is a great motivator to continue with Medifast.
I recently finished a breakfast consisting of Apple Cinnamon oatmeal. It was pretty good. The funny thing is I wasn’t all that hungry. I have noticed that since my first couple days on Medifast, I haven’t ever really been hungry. On the Medifast plan, you’re eating a meal every 2 or 3 hours. Once a day you have a “Lean and Green” meal which consists of a lean protein and vegetables.
Another thing I’ve noticed is I am sleeping less and feeling better. I have required less sleep, and getting up in the morning has been easier. I must repeat, these are the early stages of my experience with Medifast, but thus far I am extremely pleased that I chose to begin the plan.
During my first week and a half on Medifast, I had Boca Burgers and vegetables for dinner every night. To get some variety in my diet, I tried something different and went out to a steakhouse. For dinner, I had a six ounce lean cut of meat and a salad with vinegar, with a diet soda to drink. It was quite easy. The food was tasty, and the portions, although smaller than what I’m used to, were satisfying. My normal trip to a steakhouse would include a 16 ounce steak, a salad with ranch dressing, baked potato with sour cream, and a couple beers. Since I haven’t really been that hungry while on Medifast, making the healthy choices at the restaurant wasn’t difficult at all.
The early results are in. I have not been feeling hungry on Medifast. I have made smarter, healthier food choices. I am sleeping better, and I have lost weight. It is also a great feeling to know that I can go out and have a good time, and stay within the guidelines of the Medifast program!
